English had just been so annoying. They had so much work to do and Taylor didn’t know how he was going to handle all of it. In reality he loved English, it was his favorite subject, but this year their teacher was extra tough on them and it was really taking his toll on him. For once he wasn’t nearly as good in the subject as he had been in the past and that unsettled him. Taylor had a research paper due on Thursday, a memoir due on Friday, and a creative writing piece due on Monday. It was ridiculous to him, but knowing the good student that he was, he would get it all done – no questions asked. He was just so stressed lately because of all of this schoolwork and felt like it was hard to convey this message to others, which in other words was the people he normally hung around with – his friends and his girlfriend. Taylor sometimes had trouble voicing how he really felt, because he didn’t know how others would react to this, and that ended up stopping him from saying anything in the end. It was a bad habit of his and he doubted that he’d ever outgrew it, or learn to toss it aside, at least not unless someone helped him with that and he didn’t know who that person would be.

Now he was headed off to lunch. Taylor would be a little late, because he had stopped to go to his locker and had talked to the teacher after class as well. She had noticed he was a little stressed lately and had said to take it easy. If he really needed an extension on anything, she would be happy to give it to him. He had accepted her words and thanked her, but Taylor knew he would never ask for an extension. He was just too proud and asking for one, would make him feel like he had failed. He knew that wasn’t the case, but it was still the way it would make him feel. Sighing a little, Taylor slammed his locker closed and headed towards the cafeteria. He was sure that everyone would still be there, but when he arrived he was in for a surprise. None of his friends were there, so he didn’t have anyone to sit with. This was a new experience for Taylor, even on the first day of freshman year he had found someone to sit. Neverthless, it had been the nerds, but he was still friends with them today. He quickly bought his lunch and then seeing an empty table near the end, he sat down there. It took him a few moments to notice that there was actually a girl already sitting there, but he she was crouched so far down into her book that he hadn’t noticed her. Taylor smiled shyly, searching for words before saying, “Oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t notice you there. If you’d like me to leave, I’d be happy to.” Taylor didn’t want to bother anyone at all. If she wanted some privacy, he’d be happy to give it. Taking in her red hair and appearance, he tried to figure out if he knew her, but didn’t think that he did.

I had no idea why I was even bothering now with this schoolwork. Its not like I had tried for the rest of the year so why now? Well basically anything to get my mind off Jason among other things. I hadn't even been bothered at which table I sat at, although I had gone for one rather secluded. The last thing I needed was to run into anyone. Blue eyes ran over the same line over and over again. I couldn't get past it, it was just so dull. A sigh left my lips as I began to read again only to have someone interrupt or rather announce their presence. I looked up from the book, my stunning [as everyone told me] blue eyes looking over at an unfamiliar guy parked near me. My flame red hair framed my face beautifully, which as well as my eyes were apparently my best features. I wasn't one to believe in such compliments though. There was after all no point in believing compliments. They didn't do much after all. If someone truly liked you then they'd have no need to compliment you, as they would know you inside and out, and therefore would know how to make you happy.

"Its a free country so don't worry about it. Sit all you want, I wasn't that busy anyway. I've read the same line like a thousand times."

I sighed exasperated. I rolled my eyes at the same time before shutting the book closed and pushing it aside. I looked back over at him offering him a polite smile as I took him in. Hadn't I seen him around with Isabella? I knew who everyone was around here, and they didn't know me. Just how I liked it. I'd much rather hide away then draw attention to my hell hole of a life. At least then I could pass by and no one would get hurt, especially me.

"I'm Angel."

Waiting for the girl to answer, Taylor shifted uneasily in his seat. He wasn’t a very forward person and though he wasn’t exactly shy, he still would never have sat down at a table where someone he didn’t know was already sitting. He found that to be plain rude and got himself ready to be yelled at, or told to go away. When the girl turned around, eyes meeting his, Taylor was shocked. She probably got this all the time – but her eyes were utterly gorgeous – and her red hair easily complimented it, turning into someone who had a different kind of a beauty. Not the kind that was so bountiful in numbers at their high school, but the kind that was natural, and would always be there even if that person tried to make themselves ugly. She was beautiful, but in an unique way. Taylor decided not to say anything about it, because it might sound like he was hitting on her, and he wasn’t. He was simply noticing, that was all. Besides, that would definitely make him seem strange. He may have been a bit odd around the edges, but he wasn’t going for that, thank you very much.

Soon, the red-haired girl spoke. Taylor smiled over at her, remembering how when he had been little, he had used the ‘it’s a free country’ line to persuade his parents to do something he wanted, or to get away with something. It had never worked, but she seemed to think it was a suitable enough excuse. “Alright, though I should have looked to see if someone was here before I sat,” Taylor apologized warmly. He knew that she didn’t care, as she had made that obvious, but he still felt like apologizing was necessary. It was just the type of guy he was. Saying sorry over and over again was plain annoying, but here and there didn’t hurt anyone. It was definitely important to mean it however and whenever he said it, he always did. Taylor glanced down at her book, but couldn’t see the cover. He certainly liked to read, it was one of his passions and been so since just about forever. He read very quickly and because of this, was able to get books quickly read. He also had such a great interest in finding out what happened to their characters, that he plowed through the book, reading at as moments he could. “What book are you reading?” There were a few moments of silence, where Taylor knew that she was taking him in. He was a observer by nature, always looking at people and watching them. He remembered going to restaurants when he had been little and looking at the people around them instead of eating his food.

So of course he didn’t mind, but he didn’t say anything either. Taylor had already said some things and he wasn’t the type of guy who minded a little quiet. There was such a thing as awkward silence, but this wasn’t that. It was comfortable, actually. He felt almost like closing his eyes and relishing in it, enjoying it, so that was just what he did. Taylor was a little bit exhausted as well, but falling asleep while in mid-conversation with the mystery girl probably wasn’t a good idea. He doubted that she would mind, but it still didn’t seem like a good idea. Finally she spoke, introducing herself. Taylor liked her name, Angel she said it was. He found those names cool, that described like a certain emotion or this significant figure in their lives, if that made any sense. He felt like his name was pretty boring a lot of the time – just Taylor and that was it. If he ever had kids, Taylor was definitely giving them cool, unique names no matter what. He stuck out his pale right hand in greeting, for her to shake. “I’m Taylor,” He introduced himself, smiling pleasantly.

"Honestly don't worry about it. You don't need to apologise to me as you have nothing to apologise for. This table can hold a whole army comfortably so it can fit us both comfortably."

I had a feeling he was used to saying sorry a lot. I wondered why he did it, because even if he had been brought up to display manners, it wouldn't make him apologise constantly. Maybe he was afraid of being accepted? Welcome to the club. Well then again it was more of getting hurt that I was in, but acceptance almost went with that I guessed. Shrugging the thoughts of I decided it better not to asses him. I always did that and right now I just needed to get my mind off things. Hearing him ask about the book I had been reading I looked over at it and sighed,

"Its some dumb book for english. I apparently have a test on it next week or something. I don't know why I'm bothering now as I haven't all year but... Its Shakespeare's Romeo and Julliet."

I just didn't get the old english language, nor was I in a good mood to read an epic love story when my life was so empty of a special someone to love. Well that wasn't exactly true but the one that could be that someone was seeing someone, and to be honest out of my reach. He was in a whole other league to me, and I just wasn't going to get hurt over him. It just wasn't worth it. Hearing his name I gave him a gentle smile and a nod,

"A pleasure to meet you Taylor."

At least his name was more normal then mine. Gosh, I hated my name. It didn't even suit me. I was the last one anyone would think of as a virginal winged goddess. I was the total opposite of an angel, even if I did have a good heart hidden underneath away from the world's view. All I wanted was a normal name... Like Natalie or Rebecca. Maybe even Michelle... Compared to my siblings though it was normal. Candy and Honey? I felt so sorry for them.
